Gigi The Giraffe Helped The Birds

This is the story of Gigi, the gentle giraffe, who lived in the Whispering Woods.

One sunny morning, Gigi was reaching for the tastiest leaves on the tippy-top of a big, leafy tree. From a branch below, a wise old owl named Ollie watched her with his big, round eyes.

“Good morning, Gigi!” hooted Ollie. “Those leaves look delicious!”

Gigi nibbled a leaf and smiled. “They are! But I wish I had someone to share them with.”

Just then, a tiny, brown sparrow named Pip fluttered down from a higher branch, chirping sadly. “Oh dear, oh dear! My favorite shiny red button fell from my nest!” he cheeped, pointing to the ground with his wing.

Gigi looked down. The button was too small for her big hooves to pick up. Ollie ruffled his feathers. “It’s too far down for me to fly to, little one.”

Suddenly, Gigi had an idea. She lowered her long neck, and gently let Pip hop onto her head. “Hold on tight, Pip!” she whispered.

With Pip on her head, Gigi stretched her neck up, up, up, and closer to the branch where Pip’s nest was. Pip hopped off Gigi’s head, flew to his nest, and came back with a big, juicy, red apple for Gigi. He’d been saving it as a surprise!

From that day on, Gigi, Ollie, and Pip were the best of friends. They learned that even if they were different sizes, they could always help each other out. And they all lived happily ever after, sharing leaves, apples, and stories under the big, leafy tree.
