Once upon a time, in a big forest, there was a lake where all the animals came to drink water. But lately, the animals were very upset. A naughty crocodile was playing tricks on them by pulling their legs when they came to the lake.
The animals decided to ask the wise king of the forest, the lion, for help. They all went to the lion and told him about the crocodile.
The lion went to the lake to talk to the crocodile. “Why are you pulling the legs of the animals who come here to drink water?” asked the lion.
The crocodile puffed up his chest and said, “Because I want to scare them! This lake belongs to me.”
The lion shook his head. “The lake is for everyone in the forest. All the animals need water to live, just like you. Scaring others is not kind.”
The crocodile thought for a moment. “I just wanted to show how strong I am,” he said quietly.
The lion smiled. “Being strong is good, but being kind is even better. If you stop scaring others, everyone will like you, and you’ll have many friends.”
The crocodile felt sorry for what he had done. From that day on, he stopped pulling legs and became a friend to all the animals. The forest was peaceful and happy again.
