It was a fine afternoon. As usual, the baby elephant was wandering here and there, checking out his surroundings to satisfy his curious mind. He saw a bird flying in the sky.
“Can I land on your head?” asked the egret bird.
“Sure, you can land,” said the baby elephant.
The egret bird landed on the head of the elephant.
“Thank you very much, dear friend. It was a long flight from another part of the earth. Long hours of flight made me too tired,” said the egret.
“It’s my pleasure to show hospitality. Now tell me, what made you come here,” the curious elephant asked.
“It’s winter in the place where I was living. Every winter, we migratory birds fly to a different location where nature is more friendly. We fly long distances to escape the winter,” said the egret.
The elephant and the bird became friends. The elephant took the bird to show her where she could find food. The bird felt at home because of the elephant’s hospitality.
