It was the grandest day of the year: the Great Sniff Festival, organized by the clever dogs of the neighborhood! Paws of all shapes and sizes gathered to play games, test their noses, and track down hidden treasures.
It was tiny Barnaby’s very first time participating in the fest. His little tail wagged like a happy pendulum, and his oversized puppy ears flopped with every step. He was determined to win the prize for the most curious nose!
Sniff, sniff, sniff.
Barnaby followed a warm, buttery scent past the cozy doghouses and through the tall green grass at the edge of the woods. He trotted eagerly, his nose glued to the ground.
Sniffing, sniffing, the puppy reached the tiger who was hiding behind a large oak tree.
Barnaby stopped in his tracks. Hiding in the shady rustling leaves was Stripey, a giant tiger with bright orange fur, bold black stripes, and a very timid grin. Stripey was wearing a giant, sparkling participant ribbon around his neck, holding a warm plate of fresh cinnamon toast!
"Oh!" whispered Stripey, trying to look small behind a tiny bush. "You found me! I was too shy to join the big festival crowd, so I decided to hide out here."
Barnaby let out a friendly, cheerful woof! and took one big, happy step forward. "Your toast smells delicious, and your ribbon is amazing! You don't have to hide—everyone at the fest loves making new friends."
Stripey’s amber eyes lit up with joy. He bent down low and offered Barnaby a tiny piece of toast. "Would you walk back to the festival grounds with me?"
"I sure will!" barked Barnaby proudly.
Side by side, the smallest pup with the grandest nose and the shyest tiger in the forest walked into the sunny festival park together. Barnaby didn't just win a trophy that day—he sniffed out the very best treasure of all: a wonderful new friend.
