A curious cat was playing near the house when he spotted something interesting hanging from the roof edge.
"Hey, what are you doing way up there, just dangling in the air?" the cat asked the little creature.
"I'm building my home!" chirped the spider.
The cat sat down and watched with wide eyes. The spider worked hard, carefully spinning shiny, sticky threads. Thread after thread joined together until, ta-da! A beautiful, complete web was finished. The spider quickly settled right in the middle of it.
A little while later, a buzzing fly zoomed by. ZZZZZZZ! Unfortunately for the fly, it flew right into the sticky threads and got stuck! Thwap!
The spider scurried over to the trapped fly.
The cat watched the spider get ready for a snack. "Wow," the cat said, "your home isn't just a home—it's a trap too!"
The spider nodded happily. "You got it! My food comes right to me. All I have to do is wait and catch it!"
