Ojama the hippo was usually a very calm and friendly animal who loved splashing in the cool river. He shared the best mud wallows and always waited his turn for the sunniest spots.
Clyde the crocodile, however, was a bit of a show-off and liked to tease others. One sunny afternoon, Clyde saw Ojama relaxing by the water's edge. Instead of just swimming by, Clyde decided to be mean. He swam right up to Ojama's favorite, extra-squishy mud patch—the one Ojama had been saving all morning—and started splashing mud all over Ojama's face and back!
Ojama jumped up, completely startled and very angry! "Hey, Clyde! That wasn't funny!" he grumbled, his big ears flattening against his head.
Clyde just laughed a loud, raspy crocodile laugh. "What are you going to do about it, slow-poke?" Clyde taunted, flicking his long tail right near Ojama's toes.
That was the last straw! Ojama let out a huge ROAR! He stomped his big feet, and a big argument started. Ojama started shoving Clyde with his nose, and Clyde snapped his jaws very close to Ojama's tail! The other animals—the monkeys, the flamingos, and the turtles—all scattered, scared by the loud noise and the pushing and shoving. It was a big, scary mess!
