Rescuing a Dog in the Snow

Rescuing a dog from the snow
The dog was walking in the snow

The world outside was covered in a sparkly white blanket! Last night, fluffy snowflakes had danced down from the sky all night long, and now everything – the trees, the ground, even the rooftops – looked like it was made of sugar. It was a very cold winter morning, the kind where your breath makes little clouds in the air.

Inside a cozy red car, a nice man named Tom and a kind lady named Lily were bundled up in warm coats and hats. They were on their way to the big, busy railway station to pick up their daughter, Daisy, who was coming home for a visit! Daisy loved winter, and they couldn't wait to see her smiling face.

As their little red car crunched softly through the snowy road, with the frosty trees looking like they were wearing white lace on either side, Lily suddenly pointed. "Oh, Tom, look!"

Tom slowed the car down. There, by the side of the snowy path, was a little dog. He was all alone, with black spots all over his white fur, like a walking domino! The poor dog looked cold and a little lost, his tail tucked sadly between his legs as he wandered through the deep snow.

"Oh, the poor thing," Lily said, her voice full of worry. "He must be freezing out here all by himself."

Tom, who had a very kind heart, nodded. "We can't just leave him, Lily. Let's see if he needs help."

Carefully, Tom steered the little red car to the side of the road and stopped. They rolled down the window a little, and Lily called out gently, "Hello there, little doggy! Are you alright?"

The spotted dog looked up, his big brown eyes wide. He seemed a little scared, but he wagged his tail just a tiny bit.

"He looks like he's all alone," Tom said. "Maybe he's lost."

Lily opened the car door slowly and knelt down in the snow. "Come here, sweetie," she said softly, holding out her hand. "It's warm in the car. You don't have to be cold anymore."

The little spotted dog hesitated for a moment, then slowly, carefully, he came towards Lily. He sniffed her hand, and then, as if he knew they were kind, he nudged his head against her leg.

"Oh, you poor thing," Lily murmured, gently stroking his soft fur. It was cold to the touch. Tom got out of the car too, and together they coaxed the dog to hop inside. He jumped onto the back seat, looking a little nervous but much warmer already.

Daisy would be so happy to see they had helped a little friend! Tom and Lily smiled at each other. Their trip to pick up Daisy had turned into a little rescue mission. Now, their cozy red car was carrying not just two happy people, but a grateful, spotty dog too, all on their way to a warm welcome. They knew Daisy would agree – it was the best kind of winter adventure.
