The Grumpy Goose and the Silly Duck

Goose and the duck
Why so excited?

In a faraway land, nestled among the rolling hills and sparkling ponds, lived a grumpy goose named Harold. Harold was known throughout the land for his grumpy attitude and his love for complaining. He’d complain about the weather, the food, the other geese, and even the clouds!

One sunny afternoon, Harold was sitting by the pond, grumbling as usual, when he saw a silly duck named Donald waddling by. Donald was singing a happy tune and splashing in the water, having the time of his life.

“What a silly goose!” Harold scoffed. “Why is he so happy all the time?”

Donald, who had excellent hearing, heard Harold’s grumbling. He stopped splashing and waddled over to Harold.

“Why do you look so grumpy, Harold?” Donald asked cheerfully.

“Because everything is so boring!” Harold grumbled. “The sun is too bright, the water is too cold, and the other geese are too noisy!”

Donald tilted his head quizzically. “But the sun is shining, the water is refreshing, and the other geese are just having fun!”

Harold scoffed. “Fun? What do you know about fun?”

Donald smiled. “Well, I love splashing in the water, chasing butterflies, and singing silly songs. It makes me happy!”

Harold looked at Donald, then at the other geese playing happily in the pond. He thought about how much fun they seemed to be having.

“Maybe,” Harold mumbled, “maybe there’s more to life than just complaining.”

Donald smiled. “Of course there is! Come on, let’s go play!”

And so, Harold, the grumpy goose, joined Donald and the other geese in the pond. For the first time in a long time, Harold had fun! He splashed in the water, chased butterflies, and even tried to sing a silly song (though it sounded more like a honk!).

From that day on, Harold the goose wasn’t so grumpy anymore. He learned that life is much more fun when you look for the good things and enjoy the simple pleasures.
