Trapped Between The Trees

Cartoon of Elephant trapped between two trees
I just can't get out of this!

Elliot the Elephant was a very curious fellow. He loved exploring the Sunny Savanna, but sometimes his curiosity got the better of him.

One afternoon, Elliot saw a beautiful, shimmering butterfly flutter between two ancient, sturdy baobab trees. "I can fit through there!" Elliot thought with a wiggle of his trunk. He took a deep breath, tucked in his tummy, and... POP! He was stuck.

He couldn't go forward. He couldn't go backward. He was a very large elephant in a very small space. Even his friend, Pip the Bird, looked on in surprise. "Elliot," Pip chirped, "I think you've become a permanent part of the forest!"

The Rescue Plan Elliot felt a little scared, but Pip had a plan. She flew off and gathered all their savanna friends for a Great Big Rescue:

The Zebras brought slippery mud from the riverbank to help Elliot slide.

The Monkeys tickled Elliot’s trunk to make him wiggle.

The Giraffes acted as lookouts to make sure Elliot stayed calm.

The Lesson With a giant "ONE, TWO, THREE... HEAVE!" from everyone, and a very slippery SLIDE, Elliot popped right out of the trees like a cork from a bottle!

Elliot learned a very important lesson that day: It’s okay to be curious, but it’s always better to check the size of the door before you try to walk through it. Most importantly, he learned that no matter how big the problem, friends can help you wiggle through it.
