The Lion Rescue
I'm here relaxLeo the Lion was feeling bold. He stood on the muddy bank of the wide river, looking at the lush green grass on the other side. "I’m the King of the Jungle!" he roared. "A little water won't stop me." With a giant leap, Leo plunged into the river, certain he could doggy-paddle his way across.
A Sinking Feeling
But the current was stronger than Leo expected. His heavy mane soaked up water like a giant sponge, weighing him down. He splashed and kicked, but instead of moving forward, he began to drift downstream. He wasn't swimming; he was just dog-paddling in place! The Rescue
Luckily, his friend Ella the Elephant was nearby taking a morning shower. She saw Leo’s ears dipping under the waves and jumped into action. With her powerful legs, Ella waded into the deep water. She wrapped her strong, gentle trunk around Leo’s waist and hoisted him up.
Safe on Shore
Ella deposited a soggy, shivering Leo back on the dry grass. Leo shook himself off, sending a spray of water everywhere.
"Thanks, Ella," Leo mumbled, looking a little embarrassed. "I guess even kings need a helping hand—or trunk—sometimes."
Ella trumpeted a happy laugh. "That’s what friends are for, Leo. Next time, just ask for a ride!"
