"Mom, I wanna play in the water!" squeaked a tiny baby elephant, wiggling his trunk when he saw a sparkly blue river.
His mommy elephant smiled. "Sure, sweetie! But don't go too far. The water gets super deep in the middle, and it might whoosh you away!"
"Okay, Mom, I won't!" promised the baby elephant. He splashed right in, giggling as the cool water tickled his toes. He loved playing so much that he started to forget his mommy's words. Splash, splash, deeper and deeper he went!
Before he knew it, the little elephant was right in the middle of the river. Uh-oh! The water suddenly felt very strong. He wobbled and wobbled, and then plop! he couldn't stand up! "Help me!" he cried, his voice like a tiny squeak. He was getting pushed down by the water!
A big, stripes-y tiger was watching from a tree nearby. He saw the baby elephant in trouble! Zoom! The tiger jumped right into the water. He swam super fast, grabbed the baby elephant gently, and pulled him all the way back to the grass by the river.
The mommy elephant rushed over, hugging her baby tight. "Oh, thank you, thank you, kind tiger!" she trumpeted loudly. The tiger gave a quiet little purr, happy he could help. And from that day on, the baby elephant always remembered to listen to his wise mommy!
