One sunny day, a young lion, who loved to zoom and pounce, saw a tortoise slowly, slowly making his way along.
"Hey, you slowpoke!" roared the lion, trying to be funny. "Why don't you hurry up?"
The tortoise looked up with a kind smile. "Oh, this is my fastest speed!" he said. "I'm going as quickly as I can!"
The lion wasn't very patient. He huffed and puffed, and then, without thinking, he gave the tortoise a little nudge with his paw. Boop!
But guess what? Instead of the tortoise, there was just a hard, round rock! The tortoise had quickly pulled his head and legs right inside his shell!
The lion gasped! His eyes got wide. "Oh no!" he thought, looking at the rock. "Did I turn the tortoise into a rock? Will I turn into a rock too?"
Suddenly, the speedy lion wasn't feeling so brave anymore. He let out a little squeak and zoomed off as fast as his paws could carry him!
When the tortoise was sure the lion was gone, he slowly poked his head out. He looked around, smiled to himself, and then continued his slow, steady walk. He knew that sometimes, being a little bit tricky can be very smart!
What do you think the lion learned that day?
