The Elephant Who Saved Himself Because Of The Tortoise

On its way to the river, the elephant saw an old tortoise crossing the path. If the elephant had not been careful, he would have crushed the poor tortoise under his feet. What did the elephant do? The elephant waited patiently for the tortoise to cross the road. The tortoise was very slow, but the elephant calmly waited for it to pass.

“You are a good elephant. God bless you, my child,” said the old tortoise.

“Thank you,” said the elephant.

The elephant continued to walk. Suddenly, a big rock from the mountain came rolling down. The rock just missed the elephant by a few yards away.

“It’s good that you stopped for the tortoise to cross the road. Otherwise, you would have been crushed under that big rock,” said the monkey who had been watching the elephant.

The elephant heaved a sigh of relief, thanked God for saving him from being crushed under the big rock.
