The Great Savanna Snack-Off

Let's think about it!

Deep in the heart of the Sunny-Side Savanna lived two best friends who couldn't be more different.

Barnaby is a stout elephant with ears like giant pancakes. He is a champion worrier—he definitely worries about his snack supply.
Gid is a giraffe who is approximately 90% neck and 10% goofy grin. Gid doesn’t worry about anything.

One Tuesday, Gid leaned down and whispered, "Barnaby! I found them. The Glitter-Glow Guavas."

Barnaby’s eyes went wide. Those guavas were rumored to taste like a mix of blue raspberry ice pops and summer vacation.

"But Gid," Barnaby trumpeted softly, "what if we get lost? Or what if my trunk gets a cramp?"

"Don't be a peanut, Barnaby!" Gid chuckled. "I’ve got the height, you’ve got the might. It’s a snack-attack plan!"

Standing between Gid’s knees was Pip, a tiny honey badger who was the "Manager." He carried a tiny map drawn on a leaf.

The trio set off. Finally, they reached the Tall-Talk Trees. The guavas were shimmering like little disco balls in the sun.

"I can’t reach them!" Gid strained. "The wind is blowing the branches too high!"

"Step aside," Barnaby said, feeling brave. "One... two... KABOOM!"

Barnaby gave the tree a mighty elephant-shove. Gid used his long, purple tongue to snatch the guavas out of the air.

Pop! Snap! Slurp!

They sat in the grass, juice dripping down their chins. Barnaby realized that when you have a friend who reaches for the clouds and a friend who stays grounded, every adventure ends with a full belly.
