Once upon a time, a big, kind hippo mom named Henrietta was walking with her little hippo baby. "Hey there, little elephant," she said softly to a friendly baby elephant. "Please be a friend to my little one. He's a bit shy."

The baby elephant, who was very friendly and had big, floppy ears, smiled. "Oh, of course, Mrs. Hippo! I'll be his friend. We can play together every day!"

The little hippo, who had been hiding behind his mom, peeked out and smiled a shy smile. The baby elephant smiled back, and right then, they knew they would be the best of friends. They ran off to play in the cool river, laughing and splashing all afternoon.
