It was a fine morning. A tall giraffe was taking its usual stroll. His long neck allowed him to see everything in the forest. As he walked, he spotted a tiny, blue bird, chirping with worry.
“Hello there, little one,” the giraffe said in a gentle voice. “Why do you look so sad?”
The little bird fluttered its wings and sighed. “Oh,” the bird cried. “I’m so worried about the yellow snake who lives below my nest. He keeps slithering up my tree and stealing my eggs!”
The giraffe’s kind eyes grew wide with concern. “That’s terrible!” he exclaimed. “Don’t you worry, I’ll help you. No one should steal from a friend.”
Just as he said that, a long, slithery yellow snake appeared, hissing as he began to climb the tree. “There he is!” the bird squeaked, pointing its tiny wing.
The giraffe stretched his long neck and looked down at the snake. He quickly grabbed the snake with his mouth and tossed him far, far away. The snake landed on a hard rock with a thump and couldn’t move anymore. The forest was safe from the yellow snake.
The bird flew down to the giraffe’s head and chirped happily. “Thank you! You are my hero! You saved my eggs and my family.”
The giraffe smiled. “You’re very welcome. That’s what friends are for.” And from that day on, whenever the giraffe passed by, the bird would always sing a special song just for him, a song of thanks for his big heart and timely help.
