“Let’s go and explore the world,” said the monkey.
“I am ready, but please tell me where we’ll go,” said the elephant.
“I’ll take you to a new place where there is a meadow with plenty of things to eat,” said the monkey.
The monkey and the elephant started their journey with the monkey sitting on the elephant’s back. The monkey directed the elephant which way to go. The monkey could see things miles away from the top of the elephant,
“Hey, I see a wildfire on our way. Let’s go back,” screamed the monkey.
“Wildfire? I have never seen a wildfire in my life. I want to have a look,” said the elephant, and he walked toward the wildfire. The monkey screamed not to go.
But the elephant was not listening to the monkey’s warning. Soon the wildfire grew big, and the elephant and monkey found themselves trapped in the middle of the wildfire.
“How’ll we escape?” cried the elephant.
“I have no idea. The wildfire will stop, only if it rains. I can see the clouds in the sky. Hope it’ll rain,” said the monkey.
The monkey was right in predicting the rain. The clouds saw the wildfire and soon started to pour down, ending the wildfire. Monkey and the elephant heaved a sigh of relief.
“Think about it. What would have happened if it didn’t rain? If you see danger, don’t go near it, turn back and run for shelter. If you had turned back and ran when I gave you the warning, we could have escaped the wildfire unhurt,” said the monkey.
“Anyway, it’s a lesson learned the hard way. In future, I will not be curious about a dangerous situation,” promised the elephant. They took some rest, and continued their journey.
