"Hey, watch out, I am here. Please don't shake the tree; I will fall," the leopard shouted at the elephant who was shaking the tree. But the elephant didn't listen to the leopard and continued to shake the tree. At last, the leopard fell from the tree.
A monkey asked the elephant, "Why did he shake the tree even when he knew the leopard would fall?"
The elephant replied with a mischievous grin, "I saw a big, juicy mango at the very top of the tree, and I wanted to see if I could shake it down! But I guess the leopard fell instead."
The monkey, feeling a little sad for the leopard, said, "But that wasn't very kind. What if the leopard got hurt?"
The elephant, seeing the monkey's worried face, felt a pang of guilt. He had been so focused on the mango that he hadn't thought about anyone else.
"You're right," the elephant said. "I was selfish. I didn't think about my friend. I'm sorry."
Just then, the leopard, a little dazed but thankfully not hurt, walked up to the elephant. The elephant lowered his head. "I'm so sorry I shook the tree," the elephant said. "I was only thinking about myself."
The leopard smiled and said, "It's okay. I know you didn't mean to hurt me."
"As a matter of fact," the elephant added, "we can share the mango if I get it down."
"That's a deal!" the leopard said. "But next time, how about you ask me to help you shake the tree? Then we can both get what we want, and I won't have to fall."
The elephant and the leopard both laughed. From that day on, the two became the best of friends, always looking out for each other and sharing the best mangos."
