They Are Building A Dam

Beavers and Elephants Build the Big Dam!

One sunny morning, the river in the Big Green Forest was bustling with activity.

"Chop, chop, chop!" went the sound of busy beavers. They were working very hard to build a strong dam across the water.

"We have to finish before the big rains come!" called out Benny Beaver. "If we don't build the dam, the forest could flood, and that would be trouble for everyone!"

All the beavers nodded and worked even faster, but building a big dam with small logs took a lot of time. They were getting worried.

Suddenly, a loud "TRUMPET!" sound echoed through the trees. Looking up, the beavers saw three very large and very kind elephants walking out of the woods.

"Do not worry, little friends!" said Elle the Elephant, smiling. "We are here to help!"

Using their powerful trunks, the elephants picked up whole fallen trees—trunks and all!—and carried them to the river. They placed the big trees right where the beavers needed them.

Benny's eyes went wide. "Wow! Thank you, Elle! This will save us so much time!"

The beavers quickly went to work, weaving branches and packing mud around the giant elephant-delivered logs. It was the perfect team.

With the elephants bringing the big pieces and the beavers doing the weaving, the dam grew fast and strong.

Just as they were finishing, the sky turned grey, and "Pitter, Patter!" the first big raindrops fell. The beavers and elephants stepped back and looked at their work. The dam was hold tight. The river was safe!

"Thank goodness we had big friends with big trunks," the beavers cheered.

"And clever friends with sharp teeth," the elephants trumpeted back.

They had worked together, and now the entire forest was safe from the flood, thanks to the beavers and their amazing elephant helpers.
