The lion was terrified of the rogue elephant. Desperate to escape, he frantically searched for a hiding spot until he found a massive tree. Ducking behind the trunk, he kept a close eye on the elephant’s every movement.
"Hsss! Hsss!"
A sharp noise hissed from above. Looking down, the lion saw a bright yellow snake, glaring at him in fury.
"Why are you here? You've disturbed my family!" the angry snake demanded. "If you don't leave this place at once, I will bite you. Consider this your final warning!"
"Oh, my friend," the lion pleaded softly. "Will you please allow me to stay here just until the elephant leaves?"
The snake remained adamant and refused to let the lion stay. Forced back into the open, the lion bolted. The elephant spotted him immediately and gave chase, while the snake laughed aloud at the lion’s desperate flight.
However, the elephant couldn't keep up with the speeding lion. Thwarted and furious, the elephant turned back. Enraged, he marched over to the tree and uprooted it completely, destroying the snake's home in an instant.
As the snake family watched their nest shatter, the snake sighed in regret. "Had I helped the lion, I would not have lost my nest," he whispered to himself.
