The Lion And The Crocodile

What's happening here?

A proud lion marched down to the river for a drink. When he arrived, he saw a huge crocodile lounging on the muddy bank with its mouth wide open, showing off rows of razor-sharp teeth.

The lion stopped and growled, "Hey! Are you laughing at me?"

The crocodile didn't move an inch. "Not at all, Mr. Lion," he rumbled calmly. "I’m just waiting for my dentist to arrive. I need a good teeth cleaning."

The lion huffed, not quite believing him, and began to lap up the cool river water. Suddenly, a tiny bird fluttered down from the sky. Without a hint of fear, the little bird hopped right onto the crocodile's tongue and began pecking away at the bits of food stuck between its giant teeth.

The lion watched, his eyes wide with surprise. "That’s a brave little bird," he whispered. Then, he looked sternly at the crocodile. "You better not think about closing those jaws! Don't you dare trap that bird."

The crocodile let out a low, bubbly chuckle from the back of his throat. "Don't worry, King. If I did that, word would get out. No bird would ever help me again, and I’d be stuck with a world-class toothache! We have a deal: she gets a snack, and I get a sparkling smile."

The lion nodded, impressed. "A fair deal indeed," he said, before heading back into the tall grass, leaving the tiny bird to finish her big job.
