Let's Do It!

A Funny Lion Cub Adventure Story for Kids

Leo and Lenny were two lion cubs who lived in the Grassy Plains, which, as you might guess, was very, very grassy. So grassy, in fact, that sometimes it was a little… boring. All day long, they’d munch on tender shoots, watch butterflies flutter by (slowly), and practice their little baby roars that sounded more like polite coughs.

One sunny morning, Leo yawned a yawn so big it almost swallowed a ladybug. "Ugh," he mumbled, "Another day of… grass."

Lenny, who was usually more optimistic, sighed. "I wish something exciting would happen! Like, a cloud shaped like a giant banana, or a zebra who talks in rhymes!"

Suddenly, Leo straightened up, his eyes sparkling. "Lenny! I have an idea!" He took a deep breath, puffed out his tiny chest, and let out the loudest, most official-sounding cough-roar he could muster. "Hear ye, hear ye!" he announced, as if speaking to an invisible crowd. "It's time for fun!"

Lenny blinked. "Time for fun? But… what is fun?"

Leo pointed a paw dramatically at a very small, very round pebble. "Today, Lenny, we shall embark on… The Great Pebble Push!"

Lenny looked at the pebble. It looked like, well, a pebble. "Is it… really great?"

"Only if we make it great!" Leo declared. "Our mission: to push this pebble all the way to the Sparkling Stream!"

The Sparkling Stream was about ten lion-lengths away. It was not a long journey. But they started, nudging the pebble with their noses. It rolled a tiny bit, then wobbled.

"This is harder than it looks!" grunted Lenny, whose nose was getting a bit dusty.

Suddenly, a tiny ant, who was clearly late for something important, scurried over the pebble. "Excuse me! Royal procession! Important ant business!" it chirped, before zipping off.

Leo and Lenny burst into giggles. "Did that ant just tell us off?" Leo chuckled.

They continued their pebble push, giggling every time the pebble bounced in a silly way, or when they accidentally pushed it into a patch of tickly tall grass. When they finally reached the Sparkling Stream, splish-splashing the pebble right into the cool water, they roared (their best cough-roars, anyway) with triumph.

"We did it!" shouted Lenny, shaking water from his whiskers. "The Great Pebble Push was… truly great!"

Leo beamed. "And now, for our next announcement!" He took another deep breath. "Hear ye, hear ye! It's time for… The Most Exciting Stick Find!"

Lenny's eyes widened. "Ooh! What if we find one shaped like a tiny sword? Or a curly mustache?"

And so, Leo and Lenny spent the rest of the day turning tiny, ordinary things into the most magnificent adventures, all because one little lion decided to announce, "Hear ye, hear ye! It's time for fun!" And they learned that sometimes, the biggest fun isn't about giant bananas or talking zebras, but about finding the adventure in the little things, especially when you have a best friend by your side.
