The Bear and the Curious Duck
Barnaby the bear loved adventures! He heard a rumor about a sparkling treasure hidden deep under the river. Barnaby wanted to find it all for himself, but he didn't want anyone to know his secret.
He tiptoed down to the riverbank, but there was a duck swimming nearby. "Oh dear," thought Barnaby. "That duck might see me!"
He waited patiently, hoping the duck would swim away. But the duck was very curious and kept circling Barnaby.
Finally, Barnaby had an idea. "Excuse me, Mr. Duck," he boomed. "Would you like to go to a party?"
The duck's eyes widened. "A party? Where?" he quacked excitedly.
Barnaby winked. "I saw a wonderful party on my way here. Lots of ducks were dancing and having a splashing good time!"
The duck couldn't resist. "Oh, I must go!" he squawked. "Thank you for telling me!"
The duck paddled away, and Barnaby grinned. He carefully stepped into the river. But the water was much deeper than he thought! Barnaby lost his balance and splashed right into the river with a big "Oof!"
He came up sputtering, covered in mud. The treasure would have to wait for another day.
