The Bear Who Took the Wrong Turn

polar bear meets penguin army in Antartica
Who are you stranger?

Once upon a time, there was a big, friendly polar bear named Gus. Gus lived way up in the Arctic, where the world is snowy and he loves to fish!

But one sunny day, something very weird happened. Gus somehow got lost and ended up at the South Pole, a place called Antarctica!

He was a total stranger surrounded by a huge, wobbly army of penguins.

"Who are you?" squawked the Penguin Army Chief, who looked very important in his tuxedo-like feathers.

Gus gulped. "I'm a polar bear! I live in the Arctic, and honestly, I have no idea how I swam all the way down here. I just want to go home," he said.

The Chief nodded wisely. "That's a smart plan. We are what you might call poles apart, and you definitely belong in the North," he said, puffing out his chest.

"Here's what we'll do," the Chief announced. "We'll ask a very fast, very friendly dolphin to give you a ride all the way back up north."

"But first," the Chief chirped, "you have to be our guest for the night! You can leave tomorrow."

Gus was so relieved and happy! He enjoyed a big fish dinner with the penguins.

The next morning, a sleek, gray dolphin zoomed right up to the shore. Gus hopped on its back, waved goodbye to his new penguin friends, and the dolphin gave him a super-speedy ride all the way back to the icy Arctic.

Gus was so happy to be home, and he never forgot his surprising adventure in Antarctica!
