The rooster was scratching the ground as usual, looking for worms. He was busy pecking and strutting, singing his favorite "Cock-a-doodle-doo!" song. As he walked, he came to a patch of tall grass.
Suddenly, he heard a loud "THUMP... THUMP...!" He looked up in fright, and what he saw made his feathers stand on end. In front of him was a terrifyingly huge creature! He had never seen anyone so big in his life. The creature had legs like thick pillars, a body like a giant wall, and two ears that flapped like giant fans in the wind. He had two large curved tusks and a long trunk that looked like a big snake.
"Oh my, who is that?" the rooster thought, trembling with fear. His beak closed shut, and his feet felt like they were glued to the ground.
"Hello there, little rooster. Don't be scared. I won't hurt you," the big creature said in a gentle voice.
"Wh-who are you?" the rooster stammered, still shaking.
"I am the great elephant. My home is in the forest nearby. I came here to find some food," the elephant said calmly.
The rooster's fear began to fade. He looked closely at the elephant. "You're so much bigger than me, aren't you?"
"Yes, you are very small compared to me. But you are very brave. You didn't run away when you saw me," the elephant said with a smile.
The rooster puffed out his chest with pride. "I have to be brave to take care of my friends and my chicks. That's why I didn't run," he said with courage.
The elephant was very impressed with the little rooster. "That's wonderful! I like brave animals," he said, lifting his trunk slightly.
"Thank you. You are a very kind friend," the rooster replied.
They both smiled at each other. After the elephant had eaten his fill of grass, he went back to the forest. The rooster watched him go, feeling happy. From that day on, the elephant and the rooster became the best of friends. The rooster, filled with joy from making a new friend, stood tall and crowed, "Cock-a-doodle-doo!"
