Rocky River And The Rat

A duck swimming in the river saw a rat sailing in a little boat. Then the duck remembered that a big rock was right in the rat's path! The duck quacked loudly, trying to warn the rat about the rock ahead. But the rat was listening to music on his headset and didn't hear the duck's warning at all.

Suddenly, the rat's boat hit the rock with a bump, and the rat tumbled right into the water!

"Help me, please! I don't know how to swim!" the rat cried, splashing and struggling.

The duck sprang into action! She swam as fast as she could and reached the rat. The kind duck asked the rat to climb onto her back.

"Oh, thank you, thank you so much for your help!" the rat chattered, shivering. "I would have drowned if you hadn't been here!"

"I did try to warn you," the duck said gently, "but you didn't hear me because you were so busy listening to music. Next time, please be more alert and listen to your surroundings!"

"I will, I promise!" said the rat. The duck carefully helped the rat back into his boat, and he sailed safely away.
