Rainy Day Bird

“Are you not going out today?” his neighbor asked the green bird.

“No, I feel it will be raining today. Look at all the clouds in the sky, which tells me that it will be raining the whole day today,” said the green bird.

“Hey, don’t tell me that. If you are so lazy, what can I tell you? Stay at home. I feel it will be a pleasant today. I am going out,” said the neighbor bird and flew away.

Sometime later, it started raining. The green bird was still in its nest. But the other bird who mocked the green bird was in a paddy field. The bird was eating grains when it started raining. It was raining continuously. Luckily there was a tree under which he got shelter.

In the evening, when the rain stopped, the bird flew back to his nest. It was difficult for him to fly with his wet wings. With great difficulty, the bird made it to the safety of his nest.

Back in the nest, he called the green bird.

“Hey, you were right. I should have listened to you. I had a hard time today,” said the other bird.

“Sometimes, nature provides us with different clues about what to expect. All we have to do is to take time to read what the clues are there for us to read,” The green bird smiled and replied.
