It's Time To Celebrate

Barnaby the Frog had been gone for weeks, and his best buddy, Pip, was starting to think he’d turned into a prince and forgotten all about their lily pad. But suddenly—whoosh!—a giant shadow zoomed over the pond.

A massive pelican from Pelican Air touched down, and out hopped Barnaby, wearing a tiny pair of sunglasses and carrying a postcard. It was time for a celebration!

Barnaby’s friends gathered around as he told the wildest story they’d ever heard.

1. Catching the "Air-Express"

"You won't believe it," Barnaby croaked, waving his flippers. "I didn't hop, and I didn't swim. I hitched a ride in the giant beak-pouch of a pelican! It’s like a first-class seat with a view, though it smells a bit like fish. We flew thousands of miles, way above the clouds where the dragonflies look like tiny specks."

2. Living Large Abroad

Barnaby spent two weeks in a place far, far away. He told the kids about:

  • The Food: "I tried exotic bugs I can't even pronounce! Some were spicy, and some tasted like tropical fruit."
  • The Sights: "I saw giant waterfalls that make our pond look like a puddle and trees so tall they tickle the sky."
  • The Friends: "I met a lizard who wears a frilly collar and a beetle that glows in the dark like a nightlight."

3. The Round-Trip Ticket

"After my vacation was over," Barnaby explained, "I called up Pelican Air again. The same pilot picked me up, tucked me safely into his beak, and soared across the ocean to bring me right back to you guys."

Barnaby's Travel Tip: "The world is huge, but there’s no fly-snack quite like the ones we have right here at home!"

Pip and the other frogs cheered. They spent the rest of the night splashing in the water, dreaming of the day they might get their own wings—or at least a ride from a very friendly pelican.
