“Peek-a-boo!” giggled Gigi the giraffe calf, her long neck swaying as she tried to find Miko the monkey baby.
Miko, swinging from a low branch, was giggling too. “You’ll never find me, Gigi!”
But then, Miko stopped swinging. His eyes widened. “Gigi! Look!”
He pointed through the trees. “I see…people! And they have shiny sticks in their hands!”
Gigi tilted her head. “Shiny sticks? What are they?”
Miko’s tummy felt fluttery. “I don’t know, but they look…scary!”
Gigi nodded. “We need to tell someone!”
“Who?” asked Miko, his voice a little shaky.
“The Lion King!” Gigi said, her long neck pointing towards the big rock where Leo the Lion King lived. “He’ll know what to do!”
So, Gigi and Miko scampered and swung as fast as they could to Leo’s rock.
“Leo! Leo!” Gigi called, her voice a little breathless.
Miko jumped onto the rock beside her. “We saw people with shiny sticks!”
Leo’s big mane ruffled as he listened. He looked serious. “Shiny sticks? That sounds like trouble.”
He roared a mighty roar, and all the animal friends came running. “We have to protect our jungle!” Leo said.
The strong elephants trumpeted, the speedy zebras galloped, and even the tiny squirrels chattered their support. They all followed Leo, and together, they went to where Gigi and Miko had seen the people.
When the people saw all the animals, they got scared and ran away! They dropped their shiny sticks and disappeared into the trees.
Leo smiled. “You two were very brave and smart!” he said to Gigi and Miko.
All the animals cheered. “Hooray for Gigi and Miko!”
Gigi and Miko beamed. They were so happy they had helped their jungle friends. From then on, they were known as the Little Spotters, and they knew that even little ones could do big things!
