The baby squirrel came down from the tree and was on the ground looking for something to eat. A hen spotted the baby squirrel and came running to him.
"Hey baby, why are you here? You are not supposed to be here. Go back to your tree. Otherwise, you will be eaten by bad animals here. Look at that cat. He's eying at you," said the hen.
The baby squirrel saw the cat. But at the same time, the cat jumped at the baby squirrel. The baby squirrel was frozen with fear. He couldn't even more and started crying.
"You can't harm this poor baby in my presence. Let him go," said the hen.
The cat was afraid of the hen. Because the cat had seen the hen several times and how hard the hen fights with eagles and other predators to protect her kids. So the cat had no other option other than let the baby squirrel go. The baby squirrel thanked the hen and rushed to his tree.
In the evening, when the squirrel mother returned home, she learned from her baby how the hen protected her baby from the cat. She was very thankful.
"Hey, Mrs. Hen. You did a wonderful thing for us. If you were not there, I can't imagine the situation. Thank you very much for your help," the squirrel's mother said.
"It's my pleasure, dear. After all, I am too a mother. I can't hold back myself when a baby is in danger," said the hen.
