An elephant was walking through the woods when she saw a baby fox on the path. The little fox was so sad that he didn't even notice the huge elephant standing right in front of him.
"Hey there, little one! What's the matter? Why do you look so down?" the elephant asked gently.
The fox cub looked up, wiping a tear with his paw. "I'm sad because I don't have any friends," he sniffled. "Everyone is mean to me because I have a problem with one of my legs."
The elephant lowered her long trunk and gave him a soft nudge. "That's awful, but you don't have to worry about that anymore," she said. "I will be your friend!"
With a big smile, the elephant let the little fox climb right onto her back. She took him on a fun ride all through the forest! The fox cub giggled and cheered, forgetting all about his sadness.
Soon, other baby foxes saw the little cub riding happily on the elephant. They all stopped and watched, their mouths wide open. They wondered, "How did he manage to get an elephant for a best friend?"
The little fox cub just smiled, enjoying his ride with his new, best, and biggest friend.
