The Hero Deer and the Canyon Jump
Three friendly deer were grazing peacefully in a sunny meadow. They were having a truly perfect day.
Suddenly, one deer, who was always very alert and watchful, lifted his head. He sniffed the air and felt a chill. He sensed big trouble!
He was right! Hidden in the tall grass was a huge, striped tiger, staring hungrily right at them!
The Warning and the Chase
The brave deer quickly whispered: "Friends, I sense danger!" "We have to run!" "I will make sure I run the very last!"
Then, he shouted, "Run, friends, run for your lives!"
The deer scattered and ran with incredible speed! The brave deer kept a close eye on his friends, making sure they got a head start before he began his own amazing sprint.
The hungry tiger saw the last deer running and chose to chase him! The deer was heading straight toward a steep canyon with a wide, deep gap!
The Deer’s Daring Plan: He had to reach the canyon edge and make an impossible jump to escape the tiger.
He ran right to the edge. Taking a huge breath, the deer made an unbelievable leap—it was a jump to save his life—and he sailed across the wide gap!
He made it safely to the other side!
The big, heavy tiger skidded to a stop right at the dangerous edge. He looked across the giant chasm. He was simply too large and heavy to make that incredible jump.
The tiger grumbled, disappointed, and had to turn back.
All three deer were safe and sound! They found each other later and cheered for their heroic, quick-thinking friend.
