Once upon a time, a thirsty buffalo went down to the river to get a drink. Usually, he went with his herd, but today he decided to go alone because he was so, so thirsty!
When he reached the river and started drinking, he felt a little funny. It was as if someone was watching him. Curious, the buffalo looked around, but he didn’t see anyone nearby.
Then he noticed something strange in the water—a few tiny ripples. He looked closer and saw two big, peeking eyes. It was a crocodile hiding just beneath the surface!
Quick as a flash, the buffalo jumped back onto the shore. He realized how lucky he was to spot the crocodile just in time! He ran as fast as his hooves could take him all the way back to his friends in the meadow, where he was safe and sound.
From that day on, the buffalo always made sure to stay with his herd by the river!
