Timmy, the day dreamer tiger was drinking water from the river. He lowered his head, ready for a nice cool gulp, when a voice from the water bubbled up.
"Psst! Hello there, stripes!"
Timmy blinked and looked down. There, peeking out of the water with a grin so wide it almost touched his ears, was a friendly crocodile named Colin. Colin always had a joke ready and loved to make new friends, even if they were big, striped, and usually a bit scary.
Timmy tilted his head, a little surprised. "Oh! Hello, uh... green fellow!"
Colin chuckled, his grin widening even more. "The name's Colin! And I was just wondering..." Colin leaned a little closer, his eyes twinkling. "...are those stripes real, or did you just roll in a giant zebra crossing?"
Timmy let out a surprised "Woof!" of laughter, which sounded more like a happy sneeze. He liked Colin's joke!
"They're real!" Timmy giggled. "But your teeth are very shiny! Did you just brush them for a special occasion?"
Colin puffed out his chest a little, his grin now a proud smile. "Every day is a special occasion for a dazzling smile like this! Especially when I meet a friendly tiger who doesn't try to use me as a stepping stone."
Timmy just smiled, feeling a new friend bubbling up right there in the river. He decided right then and there that Colin was the best kind of crocodile a daydreaming tiger could ever ask for.
