Zoodle the Pup and the Backyard Downpour

It was a total washout. The sky was gloomy and grey, and the rain wasn’t just falling; it was a super-soaking downpour!

Inside his cozy, dry doghouse, a puppy named Zoodle was safe and warm. He snuggled deep into his fluffy blanket, listening to the pitter-patter-splat of the rain against his roof. "Phew," Zoodle thought, "I'm glad I’m inside."

But outside, it was a different story.

A little, bright-red bird named Quigley was stuck in the middle of the storm. The wind whooshed, and the rain soaked his beautiful feathers until he felt heavy and very cold. Quigley shivered. He looked around for a safe spot, but everything was wet, wet, wet.

Then, Quigley spotted it: Zoodle’s doghouse. It looked like a castle—a dry, perfect shelter.

Quigley flapped his heavy wings and landed with a tiny plop on the wet ground right outside Zoodle’s door. He looked inside, his tiny eyes wide and hopeful.

Zoodle saw the little red bird shivering in the rain. He didn't think twice. He stood right up at his doorway, wagged his tail, and nudged the door open wider.

"Come in, little friend!" he seemed to say. "There's plenty of room!"

Quigley didn't need to be asked twice. He hopped right inside, out of the windy, wet backyard and into the snug doghouse. Zoodle gently let Quigley dry off in the warmth.

By the time the storm cleared, they weren't just two animals sharing a doghouse—Zoodle the puppy and Quigley the bird had become the very best of friends.
