"Hey, would you like to soak in the rain with me?" asked the little green frog, blinking his large, curious eyes.
The baby elephant tilted his massive head, his soft ears flapping gently in the warm breeze. "Excuse me? I have no idea what 'rain' is."
Born during the peak of a scorching summer, the young elephant had never known a single drop of water to fall from the sky. He had only ever felt the dry earth beneath his feet and the blistering heat of the sun.
"Well, you are about to find out," the frog smiled knowingly. He hopped up onto a smooth, sun-warmed stone, puffed out his throat, and began to call out into the open air: "Chrome, Chrome, Chrome!"
The baby elephant watched in wonder, listening to the rhythmic, echoing croaks. For a few quiet minutes, nothing happened. Then, a cool breeze swept across the plains. In the distance, two heavy, slate-gray clouds rolled over the horizon, swallowing the golden sunlight.
A deep, rumbling crash of thunder echoed across the valley, followed instantly by a sudden, magnificent downpour. Cool, crystal-clear droplets cascaded from the heavens, splashing against the baby elephant's warm skin. He was completely soaked in the refreshing shower.
The elephant closed his eyes, drawing in a deep breath of the earthy, petrichor-filled air.
"Wow... this is entirely new to me. I love it!" he trumpeted joyfully, splashing his trunk in the puddles forming at his feet. He looked down at his green friend. "Thank you so much for making it rain!"
The frog chuckled, wiping a stray raindrop from his brow. "Oh, you shouldn't thank me. You should thank God for the rain! I can only sense when a storm is coming; when I see the signs, I simply call out to welcome it."
Looking up at the gray sky, the baby elephant offered a quiet, grateful nod of thanks to God for the life-giving water. Every breath felt cool and totally refreshing.
"I can't wait for the next rain," the elephant whispered happily.
Hearing this, the frog smiled a wide, contented smile, knowing a wonderful new friendship had just begun.
