Resolving A Water Issue

An elephant came to drink water from the river in the forest.

“You are not permitted to enter this river,” a voice emerged out of the river. It was a crocodile shouting at the poor elephant.

“I have been drinking water from this river ever since I can remember. Now you are telling me I’m not supposed to drink water from this river?” asked the elephant.

Both the elephant and crocodile entered into a heated argument. Finally, they decided to call King Lion to resolve the dispute. When the king lion came, he asked the crocodile why the elephant was not permitted to drink water from the river.

“Your majesty, if I permit the elephant to drink water, he will drink all the water, and the river will not have any water,” said the crocodile.

The king lion laughed at the croc’s argument. You are a silly guy. Who told you an elephant drinking water from this river will dry the river? Now, Mr. Elephant, drink water from the river,” said the lion. The elephant took enough water and was satisfied.

“See, nothing happened to the river. It’s your narrow-mindedness that is causing the problem. Learn to share things, or I am expelling you from my kingdom. Go anywhere you want, or I must take you out” said the king lion.

The crocodile was frightened at the king lion’s roaring statement.

“Please, king, please allow me to stay here. I will not create a problem in the future,” the crocodile pleaded for mercy.

“Ok, this time I will leave you. If you again create problems like this, I will have to rethink my decision,” said the lion.

“No sir, it will not happen again,” said the crocodile and disappeared into the water. The elephant thanked the king lion for resolving the issue.
