The Stubborn Lion and the Marsh

frog warning lion stepping into marshy land
Please don't step into the marshy ground

Once upon a time, there lived a very stubborn lion in a dense forest. He was so proud and arrogant that he refused to listen to anyone, no matter how wise their advice was. He believed that as the king of the jungle, he knew everything.

One sunny afternoon, the lion was walking near the edge of the forest. Sitting on a rock nearby was a little green frog. The frog noticed where the lion was heading and got worried. Just ahead lay a dangerous, sinking marshland.

"Stop, Your Majesty! Don't go that way! It's a dangerous marsh, you will sink!" the frog croaked loudly.

But the stubborn lion just sneered. "Who are you to advise the king of the jungle?" he thought, completely ignoring the warning. He proudly took a big step forward.

Squish!

Before he knew it, the lion stepped right into the treacherous quicksand. The more he struggled to get out, the deeper he sank. The mud reached up to his chest, and he began to panic, realizing he was trapped and helpless.

Seeing the lion sinking, the little frog didn't waste a moment. He knew he was too small to pull the lion out himself, so he began to croak as loudly as he could, screaming for help.

Hearing the frog's desperate cries, a large elephant who was passing by rushed to the spot. When the elephant saw the king of the jungle submerged in the mud, he sprang into action. He extended his long, powerful trunk toward the lion.

"Grab onto my trunk!" the elephant trumpeted.

The terrified lion caught hold of the elephant's trunk with all his remaining strength. With one mighty pull, the strong elephant dragged the heavy lion out of the suffocating mud and safely onto the hard ground.

Covered in mud and shivering from fright, the lion looked at the elephant and the little frog. His pride was completely gone. He realized that his stubbornness had almost cost him his life, and that even the smallest creature's advice could save a king.

From that day on, the lion left his arrogance behind and promised to always listen to others.
