The little gray fish swam in circles, its eyes wide with excitement. Just above the waves, something bright and silver swayed back and forth on a dark line.
"Look at that!" the fish squeaked, tail flipping happily. "It looks like a delicious, sparkling snack! I'm going to take a big bite!"
"Stop right there!" called out a deep, calm voice.
Out from a swirl of blue water glided an old, wise sea turtle. His shell was covered in beautiful golden swirls that had traveled thousands of miles across the ocean. He swam directly between the little fish and the shiny object.
"I warn you, do not bite that," the turtle said, blocking the way with a firm flip of his fin. "Not everything that glitters in the water is a treat. Sometimes, a shiny package hides a very sharp trick."
The little fish stopped and looked at the big, swirling shell of the turtle, then back at the silver line. "But it looks so perfect!"
"The best meals are the ones you find together with friends, safe on the ocean floor," the turtle smiled gently, nudging the fish away from the surface. "Come along. Let's find some real seaweed breakfast."
