The Secret Festival

a calf and the leopard cub
Why are you here?

The little leopard cub peered over the tall grass and spotted a young grey calf grazing in the meadow. He trotted over, his long tail swishing with excitement.

"Hey, why are you here?" asked the calf, stepping back with wide, surprised eyes.

"I came here for a friendly visit," said the leopard cub with a warm, toothy grin.

The calf looked around nervously. "Don't stay here for long. If the villagers come to know about you, they will catch you!"

Suddenly, a loud, rhythmic sound echoed from the edge of the woods: DUM-DUM-DUM-DUM!

"What is that sound?" asked the cub, his round ears twitching back and forth.

"It's the sound of drumbeats. The villagers are celebrating a festival," said the calf, looking frantic.

"Quick, hide!" the calf whispered. He quickly pushed the cub under a pile of large, broad banana leaves just as a group of musicians marched past the field.

The calf held his breath and pretended to chew grass, acting completely casual. Meanwhile, underneath the leaves, the cub couldn't help himself—he started wiggling his hips and bouncing to the happy rhythm of the drums. The big green leaves began to dance!

One of the villagers stopped and pointed. "Hey, look at that strange, shaking bush!"

To distract them, the calf let out a loud, dramatic "MOOOO!" and stepped right in front of the moving leaves, shaking his own head to the beat. The villagers laughed, thinking the calf was just enjoying the music, and kept marching down the path.

Once the drumbeats faded away, the leopard cub popped his head out from the leaves, covered in bits of grass and grinning from ear to ear.

"Wow, that was the best festival ever!" the cub cheered. "Thanks for saving me, friend."

"You're welcome," the calf smiled, finally letting out a sigh of relief. "But next time, let's celebrate a little closer to the jungle!"
