The Pond's Best Friends

swan and the frog
I'm happy to take you around, Fred!

A white swan named Serena lived in a pond filled with big, green lily pads . Serena was a kind swan who loved to glide gracefully across the water, her feathers glistening in the sun.

One sunny morning, as Serena was enjoying her swim, she felt a little bump on her back. She looked over her shoulder and saw a tiny, bright green frog with big, curious eyes. His name was Ferdinand.

"Oh, hello there, little one!" chirped Serena. "Are you lost?"

Ferdinand croaked shyly, "No, not lost, Serena. I just… I've always wanted to see the world from high up, like you do! And my legs are too short to hop very far."

Serena smiled. "Well, hop aboard then, Ferdinand! You can ride on my back, and we'll explore the whole pond together."

Ferdinand's eyes lit up with excitement. He carefully hopped onto Serena's soft, feathery back, holding on tight as she began to move.

They floated past tall reeds where dragonflies danced, and under a weeping willow tree whose branches dipped into the water. Ferdinand pointed out tiny fish darting below and buzzing bees collecting nectar from water flowers.

"Look, Serena! A sparkly beetle!" he'd exclaim.

"Over there, Ferdinand! A beautiful blue heron!" she'd whisper.

Serena loved having Ferdinand on her back. He was such a joyful companion, always noticing the smallest wonders. And Ferdinand, for his part, felt like he was flying, seeing the world in a way he never thought possible.

Serena the swan and Ferdinand the frog became the best of friends. They spent their days exploring the pond. And sometimes, if you looked closely, you could still see Ferdinand riding happily on Serena's back, exploring their beautiful watery world.
