The Bear Who Yawned

bear family
Give me your ear

Once upon a time, in a cozy cave tucked away in the forest, lived a little bear cub named Jack. Jack was sad.

"Why are you so sad?" asked his mom.

"I'm sad because I've no friends. Nobody wants to talk to me," said the bear son.

"Don't worry, son, I will teach you a trick that everybody will talk to you about," said the bear mom, winking with one big, brown eye.

Jack’s mom leaned in close and whispered the secret trick into his ear. Jack's eyes grew wide. "Are you sure, Mom?" he asked, a little nervous.

"Absolutely," she said. "Now, go out there and be the friendliest bear in the forest!"

The next day, Jack went to the big meadow where all the other animal children played. He saw some squirrels playing tag and a few rabbits bouncing around a dandelion patch. He walked over, feeling shy, and then remembered his mom's advice. He took a deep breath, and as a little hedgehog named Prickles scampered past, Jack opened his mouth wide...

And let out the biggest, most spectacular yawn anyone had ever seen.

It wasn't just any yawn. This yawn was so big it could have swallowed a blueberry whole. It was so deep it made his eyes water. And it was so incredibly contagious that Prickles the hedgehog immediately stopped, stretched his little mouth, and let out a tiny, squeaky yawn of his own.

A moment later, a rabbit saw the yawning hedgehog and yawned. Then a chipmunk saw the rabbit and yawned. Soon, all the animals in the meadow were yawning one after another, their little mouths wide open, their eyes getting droopy.

It was the most hilarious, yawn-filled moment the forest had ever witnessed. They all looked at each other, laughed, and then yawned again.

"Wow," said Prickles, rubbing his eyes. "That was a really good yawn. You must be very sleepy."

"I am!" said Jack, who was now a little sleepy from all the yawning. "But my mom said yawning is the friendliest thing you can do."

"It is!" said the rabbit. "I've never felt so connected to everyone at the same time."

From that day on, Jack was known as the bear with the magic yawn. And while it might have started with a little bit of sleepiness, it ended with a whole lot of laughter and a forest full of new friends who were always ready for a good, big yawn with him.
