Rabbit And The Tiger Story

tiger and the rabbit
I don't know if he catches me!

It was afternoon. Phil, the rabbit, was hopping around, enjoying the warm sun and the sweet scent of clover. Suddenly, he found himself face-to-face with a tiger!  Phil nearly fainted with fear. His heart pounded like a drum, and his little legs trembled. He knew he was no match for the mighty predator.  He braced himself, thinking this was the end.

But then, something strange happened. The tiger didn’t pounce. It didn’t even growl. It just stood there, sniffing the air, its eyes cloudy and unfocused. Phil realized with a jolt – the tiger was blind!  He could barely believe his luck.  He took a tiny, hesitant step back. The tiger’s head twitched, but it didn’t seem to notice him.

Taking another small step, Phil began to tiptoe backwards, his breath held tight in his chest.  He moved as quietly as a falling leaf, careful not to make a single sound.  The tiger remained still, lost in its own world of scent and memory.

Phil continued his slow retreat, his fear slowly giving way to relief.  He finally reached the edge of the clearing, and then, he ran. He ran faster than he’d ever run before, his fluffy tail bouncing behind him.  He didn’t stop until he reached his burrow, a cozy little hole nestled beneath the roots of an old oak tree.

Safe inside, Phil collapsed, his heart still racing. He took a long, shaky breath and then another.  He couldn’t believe he had escaped!  He had faced a tiger, a blind tiger, but a tiger nonetheless, and lived to tell the tale.

Later that evening, as the sun began to set, Phil ventured out of his burrow. He cautiously made his way back to the clearing, keeping a safe distance, of course.  He saw the old tiger still there, pacing slowly, sniffing at the ground.  Phil felt a pang of sympathy for the creature.  He realized the tiger wasn’t a monster, just an old animal struggling to survive.

From that day on, Phil never forgot his encounter with the blind tiger.  He learned that even the most fearsome creatures can be vulnerable, and that sometimes, the greatest strength lies not in power, but in quiet observation and a little bit of luck.  And every time he hopped through the meadow, he remembered to be grateful for his good fortune and the beautiful, unpredictable world around him. He also learned to be a bit more careful, just in case there were other blind tigers about.
