The sun was high in the sky, turning the dusty riverbank hot and dry. A young elephant wandered near the water, fanning its large ears to catch a cool breeze, but the heat remained relentless.

Standing at the edge of the cool, flowing river, an alligator looked up from the shadows of the bank. Noticing the tired visitor, the alligator gently splashed the water with its tail and nudged a smooth stone out of the way, inviting the youngster closer to take a refreshing dip.

Eager for relief, the elephant stepped cautiously into the shallow water, letting the soothing current cool its heavy feet. Smiling from the bank, the alligator took a deep breath, dipped its nose beneath the surface, and blew a series of tiny, bubbling streams into the clear water.

Curious, the elephant lowered its trunk beneath the surface and gave a quick blow. A giant spray of water erupted everywhere, splashing the riverbank with a sudden burst! Both animals shared a merry laugh as the mist cleared.

With a few gentle flicks of its tail, the alligator showed how to blow slowly and steadily instead. Taking a long breath, the elephant tried once more—this time letting out a gentle stream of smooth air. Beautiful round water bubbles drifted up into the air, glistening brightly in the sunlight before popping above the river.

By the time the afternoon heat began to fade, the riverbank was filled with laughter and rising bubbles. As the cool evening breeze swept across the water, the visitor headed home with a happy heart, having found both a pleasant way to stay cool and a wonderful friend by the river's edge.
