The False Promise

Hey, You Promised Me A Fortune

Once upon a time, a mighty lion was fast asleep in his cozy cave, snoring loudly.

Suddenly, a sneeky crocodile popped his head into the cave and whispered, "Hey friend, want to go on an exciting adventure? I know a magic island full of tasty snacks! Want to come?"

"Oh boy! That sounds like so much fun! I'm in!" cheered the lion.

The lion hopped onto the crocodile’s big, bumpy back, and splish-splash, off they swam into the big blue sea!

But oh no! The ocean waves grew huge and bumpy! Toss! Turn! Wobble! The poor lion had a super hard time balancing. His knees shook, and his tummy did flip-flops.

"Wait a minute! I don't like this at all!" cried the lion. "Please take me back to my nice, warm cave!"

But the crocodile didn't hear him over the roaring waves and kept swimming faster and faster. Whoosh! The lion lost his balance, slipped off, and fell right into the water with a huge SPLASH!

"Help! Help! I'm drowning!" shouted the lion, waving his paws in the air.

"Hey! Wake up! Why are you yelling like a silly little cub?" a soft voice asked.

The lion opened his eyes and blinked. There was no giant ocean, no cold water, and no tricky crocodile! He was safe in his cave, and the lioness was standing right in front of him, looking very confused.

"Phew!" the lion let out a big sigh of relief. "It was just a silly bad dream!"

He gave a huge, lazy yawn, stretched his furry paws, curled back up into a cozy ball, and drifted right back to sleep.
