Helping Hand

A fox hugging a baby rabbit
Rusty took great care of Cotton

On a cold winter day, Rusty the fox was walking through the snow. On his way, Rusty saw something moving. Curious, Rusty took a closer look and found it was a small baby rabbit. It had come out of its home and couldn't go back because its rabbit hole was filled with snow.

"Hello there!" Rusty boomed, his voice warm and kind.

The little rabbit, whose name was Cotton, was a bit scared at first. Foxes were usually not friends with rabbits. But Rusty's eyes were so gentle, and his smile so wide, that Cotton felt a tiny spark of trust.

"H-hello," Cotton whispered.

"You look a little cold," Rusty said, extending a paw. "Would you like a hug? My fur is very warm."

Cotton, still a bit hesitant, nodded slowly. Rusty carefully scooped up the little rabbit, holding him close. Cotton immediately felt the warmth and comfort of Rusty's thick, orange fur. It was the coziest place he had ever been!

"Now, I will help you return to your home where your mother must be looking for you," said the fox.

"Where is your home?" asked Rusty.

"It's there, covered by snow," Cotton pointed to a small opening in the snow.

Rusty carefully removed the snow until the rabbit hole was visible. He then carefully placed Cotton inside the hole.

Inside the hole, Cotton's worried parents and siblings cheered upon seeing him. Cotton told them how Rusty the fox had helped him.

Rusty also returned home with a big smile on his face.
