Once upon a time, a mighty elephant with big floppy ears came for a friendly visit to a quiet little village.
Whiskers the cat was taking a sunny nap when he saw the towering stranger. Curious and polite, Whiskers trotted over, flicked his tail, and asked, "Hello there! Would you like me to show you around our cozy home?"
"Oh, yes please!" trumpeted the elephant happily.
Whiskers led the way, proudly pointing out the village fish pond, the sunny roofs, and the leafy pathways. But then, they turned a corner and spotted the grandest sight of all: the village banana plantation, overflowing with bright, yellow fruit.
The elephant’s tummy gave a huge RUMBLE!
Without waiting for Whiskers, the elephant stomped right into the patch. Swoosh! Wasp! He wrapped his long trunk around the banana bunches, pulling down whole trees to pack up and take home.
"Wait, those aren't ours!" squeaked Whiskers, but it was too late.
The loud CRUNCH and CRACK of the banana trees alerted the villagers. Hearing the noise, the angry farmers rushed out waving wooden sticks and tossing small stones to protect their crops.
"Yikes!" trumpeted the elephant. Scared by the commotion, he turned around and stomped away as fast as his four huge feet could carry him, disappearing into the forest.
Whiskers hid behind a bush, his fur puffed up with embarrassment. As he watched the villagers clean up the mess, the little cat sighed deeply. He learned that being a good host is wonderful, but it's always a good idea to get to know a new friend before inviting them near the neighbor's garden!
