Don't Talk To A Crocodile

green croc and the duckling story

Pippin the duckling was on his way to see his friend, Mr. Frog. His mother had given him a very important rule: "Don't talk to that crocodile!" Pippin promised he wouldn't. He knew the big, green crocodile with the long, toothy smile wasn't a good friend to have.

As he waddled along the path by the river, a large, scaly head popped out of the water. It was the crocodile!

"Where are you going?" the crocodile asked in a low, rumbling voice.

Pippin remembered his mother's warning. He didn't say a single word. He just turned right around and began to waddle as fast as his little webbed feet could carry him. she turned away from the croc Suddenly, with a loud SPLASH!, the crocodile leaped out of the water. Pippin was so scared he froze! But the crocodile wasn't chasing him. Instead, he was busy trying to catch a big, red fish that had been swimming near the shore. The crocodile was so focused on the fish that he didn't even notice Pippin anymore.

Pippin quickly waddled home. He was a little sad he didn't get to see Mr. Frog, but he was so happy he had listened to his mother. He knew that sometimes, the best thing to do when you see a crocodile isn't to talk, but to be a very, very fast duckling!
