Once upon a time, a curious little baby elephant named Elphie wandered down to the river on a hot afternoon.
Floating in the water was a sneaky crocodile named Cruncher. Cruncher smiled a big, toothy grin and called out, "Come closer, little Elphie! Let's play a game!"
But Cruncher was playing a bad game. He wanted to lure Elphie into the deep water so he could grab his feet and pull him down. Elphie took a step closer, not knowing the danger.
Luckily, Elphie’s mama was watching from the nearby bushes. Seeing the sneaky crocodile, she let out a thunderous trumpet and came charging down the riverbank.
STOMP, STOMP, STOMP!
Mama Elephant rushed right between her baby and the river, splashing water everywhere. She safely scooped Elphie up with her strong trunk and pulled him away from the shore. Realizing he was no match for a brave mama elephant, the disappointed crocodile splashed into the mud and swam away.
Mama Elephant nudged Elphie gently to comfort him. Elphie learned a big lesson that day: not everyone who invites you to play is being a true friend, and it is always best to stay close to family where it is safe.
