The Secret Admirer

Jasper the cat had a big, secret crush. Not on another cat, but on a big, friendly bear who often wandered near the village. Jasper thought the bear was the coolest animal around!

One sunny afternoon, Jasper decided he had to get a better look. He tiptoed right up to a big, shady oak tree and peeked out from behind the trunk. He held his breath, hoping the bear wouldn't notice him.

After just a few minutes, stomp, stomp, stomp went the footsteps! The bear was getting super close. "Oh, boy," Jasper whispered to himself. "If I had my little camera, I could take the best close-up pictures!"

Suddenly, the big bear stopped right near the tree. Jasper froze! His little paws were stuck to the ground, and his tail stopped flicking. He was too scared to even wiggle!

But the bear didn't look scary at all. He had a gentle smile. "Well hello there, little buddy!" the bear boomed softly. "Hope you're having a great day!"

Jasper let out a big sigh of relief. His fear melted away. "Yes, Mr. Bear, I'm doing great, thank you!" he chirped.

The bear tilted his big head. "Say," he asked kindly, "do you want to be friends?"

Jasper’s eyes went wide with excitement. "Of course! I'm your biggest fan!" he meowed happily.
